Courtney Wilson worked hard to make Leesburg High School's varsity basketball team. His work earned him a spot in the starting lineup.

Wilson's performance during his senior year at Leesburg also was good enough to earn him a spot with the Pasco-Hernando Community College basketball program.

Now Wilson, who recently signed a grant-in-aid with coach Bob Bowman at Pasco-Hernando, knows he must work even harder to earn another starting job.

''(Leesburg) Coach (Mike) Semanchik was told I could get the starting job at the No. 2 (shooting) guard if I worked on improving my upper body strength,'' Wilson said. ''Coach Bowman told Coach (Semanchik) that I needed to work hard over the summer to improve my strength.''
