Sentinel Player Of The Year Ready To Fly High Again

LEESBURG - Many words describe the play of Marlyn Bryant.

But simply stated, the 6-foot, 3-inch Leesburg player is the whole package.

There is no portion of the game with which Bryant is unfamiliar. And he is willing to bring his complete game to the floor every night.

The high school junior was known during the recent season mostly as a high-flying leaper who could accept the alley-oop pass as well as sky above the rim to dunk the basketball or grab more than his share of rebounds.

Bryant could also take the ball to the hoop to score, and when asked, step back behind the 3-point arc and knock down the long-range shot.

``That pretty much describes him,'' Leesburg Coach Pat Todd said. ``He is the complete package. ``People often do not realize how much he does for our team. He does so many of the little things that are so important.''

Bryant was the area leader in rebounding with 12.2 per game, and he contributed big time with 15.7 points and 2.9 steals per game. And, he was the second-leading shot blocker in the area, repelling on average 2.2 per contest.

Bryant was named player of the year on The Lake Sentinel's all-area team.
