Two Pals Who Led Their High School To A Class 5a, District 7 Title Will Enter The Junior College Ranks Side By Side.
LEESBURG - Three years ago, Jay Sullivan met Robert Wright on the basketball court at Leesburg High School.
The friendship has grown so strong that the hoopsters have signed to play together at Lurleen Wallace State College, a junior college in Andalusia, Ala.
``We made the decision to play together when we went down there to visit,'' Wright said Thursday.
``We enjoy playing with each other. Jay knows my way of playing and I know his.''
Sullivan said, ``Playing with Robert is very important, because I didn't want to go to college by myself.''
Leesburg coach Pat Todd said this makes basketball an easier adjustment.
``It will make the transition period easier from high school to college,'' Todd said. ``Most kids that are freshman get thrown for a loop because they are away from home. They will be there to help each other.''
The two led the Leesburg basketball team to the Class 5A, District 7 title this season.
