Region 6A-2
Who: West Port (16-11) at Leesburg (17-9)
Winner gets: Either Gainesville or Lecanto in Tuesday’s regional semifinal.
Outlook: Unlike county rivals Vanguard and Lake Weir, the Wolf Pack dodged a bullet in FHSAA reclassification last year when they avoided placement into the brutal Class 6A district that includes defending 4A state champion Leesburg and perennial power Gainesville. West Port capitalized on a much lighter district workload to claim a spot in the regional playoffs, but if the ’Pack are going to make any postseason noise they’ll have to start off with an upset of a Yellow Jackets team that is 5-0 against Marion County opponents this year.
