LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Joe Toolie scored 18 points to lead Leesburg to a 66-58 victory over Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons and the Class 4A boys basketball championship.

The Yellow Jackets (28-4) victory Saturday afternoon at the Lakeland Center gave them their first title since 1977. They advanced to the state playoffs as a district runner-up.

Toolie scored 11 of his points in the first half to put Leesburg ahead 27-17 at halftime.
In the second half, D'Mauri Jones scored 11 of his 17 to keep the Yellow Jackets in the lead.

Brandon Jones, who scored a game-high 23 points, had 19 in the second half as he attempted to rally Cardinal Gibbons, which was playing in its first state title game.

But the Chiefs (19-8) never got closer than six points.
